Give Me my rights or Give me Death - Day 24 Schauenburg Hunger Strike Interview

Hunger StrikeMadison Wisconsin - Today marks day 24 in the Matt Schauenburg hunger strike against embattled Governor Walker and the Senate Republicans. Twenty four days ago Matt Schauenburg decided he was ready to die for the rights of Wisconsin workers and the working class of Wisconsin. PolitiScoop picked up this story from the social networking site facebook and it has received little or no attention from the main stream media or even garnered the attention from Scott Walker and his cast of thugs in the Senate Majority. Below you will find the Exclusive Interview with Matt Schauenburg in its entirety.

Good morning Matt. My name is Dave from Politiscoop.com and we have been following your story. I appreciate you taking the time to answer a few questions so we can give our readers some insight to your hunger strike.

[PolitiScoop]
Its good to finally talk to you. Have you looked at the stories on the site?Stories about you that is.

[Matthew Schauenburg]
seen most of them, like the site

[PolitiScoop]
Thank you. Can I ask ya a few questions?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
once again thanks, appreciate the coverage ask away

[PolitiScoop]
Oh no problem, I have much respect for what you have done in going this long and even if you decided to eat soon, you'd have the same respect. (Not trying to talk you out of it, just telling you the way I look at it)

[Matthew Schauenburg]
t.y.

[PolitiScoop]
Its been 24 days now?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
day 24 now correct

[PolitiScoop]
How much weight have you lost? Have you kept track?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
not precise track, appx. 1 lb per day

[PolitiScoop]
so about 25-30lbs

[Matthew Schauenburg]
variations due to water wieght
25 yup

[PolitiScoop]
Has anyone in terms of republicans or democratic senators stopped to talk to you?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
no communications from politicians or unions
one dem staffer gave a thumbs up last week tho

[PolitiScoop]
Great, do you know which one it was?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
cops have been very supportive
no, could find out tho

[PolitiScoop]
Thats ok, just curious if you knew off the top of your head.
Let me ask you this, is there anything that a republican or democrat could do to change your mind if they met with you?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
not that I could see, Im sticking to my two points of cba restoration and budget dialogue

[PolitiScoop]
So its both or none?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
yes another hunger striker starting this week would be great, to keep the pressure on after im hospitalized or dead

[PolitiScoop]
You know that the cba is in limbo due to the Supreme Court now taking up the issue right?

[Matthew Schauenburg]

correct Im waiting out the results Im even open to restoraton of cba with a X year moratorium on pay hikes. I feel Im being as flexible and realistic as can be

[PolitiScoop]
Ok if the supreme court sends it back that would be a victory for you and you could eat? I only mention this because the republicans won't have the votes this time around to pass it. More then Likely. They are all to scared about recalls. Which are going very very very well

[Matthew Schauenburg]
would still need dialogue on economic aspects of the bill theyre gonna be recalled, the self serving lil creeps!

[PolitiScoop]
I saw on your blog you lost your cellphone, did you find it?  Yes they are and hopper is already set to go!

[Matthew Schauenburg]
nope, really stinks too because the last of my 401k and savings were spent last week

[PolitiScoop]
I know some people were looking at getting you one of some sort so I can pass that info on. Are you at the capitol every day?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
A friend is gonna loan me some $ this week, so it should be replaced within a couple days. most every day I should be there by 9 this morning
there is a fund raiser in the works too but its slow going

[PolitiScoop]
We had a scoop reorter there one day wanting to do a video interview and just happened to be teh day you took off. Our luck :)

[Matthew Schauenburg]
sorry about that, needed some time for deep thoughts

[PolitiScoop]
Oh no problem, we didn't tell you ahead of time

[Matthew Schauenburg]
if deep thoughts means getting in touch with my sense of grim determination and fatal resolve man that sounds eally depressing, even to me lol

[PolitiScoop]
So during this hunger strike, have you had at times thoughts of just eating and fighting this causing another way or been pretty firm on it all the way?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
pretty firm, with a Gov. not willing to communicate its either this or assasination, and I still cant recomend that gotta go in a sec, I'll be at the cap all day

[PolitiScoop]
Ok matt one last question ok?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
ok

[PolitiScoop]
Is there a page or place people can donate to you?

[Matthew Schauenburg]
not yet, its in the works tho well the capitol building maybe

[PolitiScoop]
Ok please keep us informed and I do wish you the best of luck with this and hope that you don't have to sacrifice everything for something we should have hands down. Thank you for your time Matt. Gods Speed

[Matthew Schauenburg]
come on down and watch my life flicker before your very eyes, not thats entertainment, roan coliseum style tho it may be
thank you much, later

[PolitiScoop]
I will try to get down there to stand with you brother. Have a great day

It is obvious that this is not some sort of publicity stunt by Matt; rather it is a fight for rights in the face of a GOP Governor who seems determined to change the face of workers rights in Wisconsin. Will Walker or any of the Republican Senators stop and speak to Matt? Will Walker or any of the Senators remember this man should he pass away in his fight against the machine? PolitiScoop plans on getting answers to these questions very soon.

If you have a chance on April 4th which has been declared a day of action in Wisconsin, go down to the Capitol in Madison and stand with Matt, support our brother who is willing to sacrifice his life for the rights for every working man and woman in Wisconsin. Matt Schauenburg is as much of as a hero sitting at the Capitol each day while on a hunger strike as those serving our country abroad. Matt,  politiscoop.com thanks you for your determination and resolve, may God Bless you in your endeavors.
