Madison – According to an economic news release by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Wisconsin ranked dead last out of 50 states in terms of job creation for 2011. Governor Scott Walker appears to have done just the opposite of his campaign promise to create a job friendly climate in the Badger State. Instead of reaching goals to achieve 250,000 new jobs promise, he has sent the state into a job growth contraction. The top six states to have lost jobs in 2011 are as follows:
- Wisconsin -12,500
- Missouri -4,100
- Mississippi -2,900
- Alabama -1,900
- Rhode Island -1,300
- Alaska – 900
When you compare those numbers to our neighbors that Gov. Walker likes to throw under the economic bus, you can see it is yet another attempt to see if Wisconsinites are paying attention.
Midwest States (all gains):
- Illinois 29,200
- Iowa 9,200
- Michigan 61,700
- Minnesota 35,800
As you can see, the numbers show the reality of what Scott Walker's policies have accomplished throughout his first and most likely, last term as Governor. Wisconsin cannot afford another year of this continued job contraction while the rest of the United State is seeing job expansions. Scott Walker had this to say about Illinois this morning on CNBC, another lie? (1:40 mark)
