Another Walker Crony Appointment
Madison Wisconsin -- Last month Cindy Archer suddenly left the Walker administration due to "family reasons", when in reality, she was leaving for a job that Scott Walker had already lined up for her.
As reported by the Journal Sentinel, Archer will take a $25,000 a year pay cut when moving over to Department of Children and Families. Let’s not feel as sorry for Cindy Archer as she will be making $100,000 a year which is tens of thousands more then anyone who has ever held the position.
Archer is yet another Scott Walker transplant from Milwaukee as she hopped on the Walker Express to Madison and enjoys the comforts of being taken care of by Scott Walker. While in Milwaukee, she had held the county's top staff position under Walker when he was county executive. Prior to her sudden resignation from the Department of Administration on August 24th, Archer brought home some 124,000 a year as deputy secretary which helped oversee state contracts, the state budget, the state workforce and other government functions.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported this today:
"Now, documents provided by the state show she actually was already hired a day earlier on Aug. 18 to a $99,449-a-year job in the Department of Children and Families, as the department's legislative liaison, according to a letter released Friday from Eloise Anderson, who heads the department. Her appointment to the new job was effective Aug. 20. Anderson's letter says Archer would be "performing duties as prescribed by this office."
Whether she's drawing it yet or not, Archer's new salary is about 61% more than the last person to hold the position. Kimberly L. Collins, who held the same liaison job until May, was paid $61,859 in 2010, according to state figures.
It is believed by some that Archer left her current position because of a John Doe investigation into the Milwaukee Walker administration which involves one of his staffers posting political commentary on websites while holding office. A John Doe investigation is similar to a federal grand jury investigation, in which witnesses give testimony in a closed proceeding before a judge to determine if any laws were broken.
Only time will tell what will become of this investigation but the timing and sudden resignation all points to Walker attempting to sweep past actions under the rug
